SCAD Workshop for my students

Last Friday my students were able to take part in a drawing workshop at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), Hong Kong. They got a tour of the historical building followed by a Cubist drawing workshop run by one of the SCAD professors.

It was a wonderful experience for both the students and myself. Often acting solo it is nice to watch another art teacher and to be able to talk and share ideas with them. It was nice for students to hear and experience a different teaching style, a fresh pair of eyes on their work. Finally, it was extremely gratifying to hear the professor use terms that I regularly use with my students such as "Unity", "Balance", "form" etc. "See, it's not just me!!" I told them.

My biggest takeaway was a new approach to teaching Cubism using layering techniques and collage.
