I'm Katherine, an art educator and art enthusiast.

Welcome to my art world.  Originally for Europe, I have worked in International Schools in Moscow, China and Hong Kong.

 

When it comes to education, I believe that students need to be fully engaged in their subjects to really learn meaningfully. The approaches I use to achieve this are in three parts;

Firstly - I teach the theories, techniques and visual literacy so that students can create and understand.

Secondly, students are given choice. Sometimes it's full choice, sometimes I set a boundary (eg a theme or a medium). 

Thirdly, I help students to make connections with their art. This can be done through cross-curricular projects and personal, real life connections.
